Bible read in Sidmouth’s 400 years celebration
Sidmouth volunteers needed to read Bible as part of King James Bible celebrations
SIDMOUTH Christians will read the Bible from cover to cover as part of the town’s celebrations of 400 years of the King James Bible.
Churches Together in Sidmouth (CTiS) are asking for 222 volunteers to read for an estimated combined time of 74 hours between Monday, October 17 and Saturday, October 22, writes Charlie Lister.
Readings will take place in the Parish Church between 8 a.m and 10 p.m each day.
CTiS anticipates a 6p.m finish on the final Saturday, followed by a concert from Sidmouth Gospel Choir at 8p.m.

Volunteers are invited to choose a time to read from a schedule in the Parish Church, and take a card home to remind them of their chosen time.
All are welcome to read, or just sit and listen with a coffee. There will be an exhibition featuring inspirational people spanning 400 years, all motivated to act by the Bible.

Event organiser Joan Bennett said: “We would like everyone to come and celebrate the freedom we have in this country to read and listen to the Bible, without fear of persecution, and remember what the Bible has meant to so many people through the years, and what it still means today.”
