Sidmouth’s ‘very tired and cluttered’ information centre could get a makeover for the first time since it opened at the Ham in 1991.

Manager Jeff Bailey met its town council owners to discuss creating a seating area and installing a public-access computer to make information more accessible.

They agreed it should at least be redecorated inside and a budget will be discussed for the 2018/19 financial year.

Town clerk Christopher Holland told Monday’s tourism and economy committee meeting: “The information centre was provided when the pool was built. It’s been painted but not a lot has been done to it recently. Now the time has come for at least a lick of paint and a spruce-up before the next season.

“The space available is incredibly limited, but it could be reorganised to provide customers with somewhere to sit and make it easier to get information while still providing services.”
