NEARLY £1,000 was raised for Cancer Research UK last Friday at the annual Big Breakfast fundraiser.

Around 117 breakfasts, which included delicious local produce, were served at Steamers Restaurant and an amazing £931 was collected.

Annie Boalch, organiser, said: "It was a very busy morning. The food was great, it was a nice atmosphere and it was a worthwhile effort by everybody.

"We had a lot of people helping and I would like to thank Liz, Mike, Mary and Gill.

"We have been very lucky to have Steamers Restaurant support the group for so many years."

Representatives of FORCE, a cancer charity, also attended in an advisory role.

The Music for Life event, to be held in the summer, will raise money for FORCE as well as Children's Hospice South West.

A coffee morning in aid of Music for Life will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 10am-12noon in the Mariners Hall.

A diary of forthcoming Beer events will be available to pick up on the day.
