CYCLE STOLEN: A pedal bike was stolen from Muttersmoor Road, Sidmouth, between 8.35am and 10am on Friday, February 10.

Officers would like to return the black, Giant brand, man’s mountain bike - with a basket on the front – to its owner.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact police on 101, crime reference: KS/12/84.

BOOK BONUS: Electronic books could be coming to Sidmouth Library, according to a county councillor.

Stuart Hughes told town council colleagues last Monday that the roll out of ‘e-books’ - publications in digital form that are readable on computers and other electronic devices – was being considered. He said the launch of an e-book service could happen in the “near future”.

CRIME CONCERN: Speeding and the theft of garden equipment are concerning Colaton Raleigh residents.

PCSO Sarah Trayhurn is setting up a ‘community speed watch’ for the village and and is looking for volunteers. She said the neighbourhood police team was planning to re-launch a ‘farm watch’ scheme as the theft of garden equipment, agricultural items and scrap metal “continues to be a problem”.

HOMES BOOST: Devon County Council (DCC) bosses have unveiled plans to invest �10million over three years in its care homes for the elderly.

The budget, agreed by the authority yesterday, will include �3.8million in 2012/13. “We’re removing a lot of uncertainty that’s been hanging over our care homes for far too long,” said Councillor Stuart Barker, DCC cabinet member responsible for social care. Specific proposals for how the investment will be spent will follow in coming months.
