CAREFUL housekeeping by Sidmouth Town Council has meant a reduction in two of its bills.Finance committee chairman Councillor Jeffrey Turner and clerk Trina Jarrett have reduced East Devon District Council's StreetScene estimate for ground maintenance, which increased this year from £4,700 to more than £10,000 - a rise of 114 per cent.A document was put out to private tender to drive down the cost and StreetScene has responded with a new quote, showing an increase of just 24 per cent on last year. Chairman Councillor Tom Cox said the pair had also secured a reduction on the audit fee.
