THE Bishop of Exeter, the Right Reverend Dr Michael Langrish, will join Sidmouth Parish Church congregation on January 6 for a Eucharist of Thanksgiving and Consecration of the church's new nave altar.

St Giles and St Nicholas has been undergoing major re-ordering works and is due to be open for services just before Christmas.

Rector, Reverend Prebendary David James, told parishioners: "The Epiphany is, amongst other things, the celebration of gifts, and so I thought it would be particularly appropriate day on which to invite the Bishop to celebrate the gift of a renewed building and the furniture that goes with it."

It is hoped to return to the church for The Hospiscare Tree of Light Service on Sunday, December 13.
