Black comedy about a sweet old lady who finds herself up against a gang of bungling robbers

A criminal caper adapted for the stage by the creator of Father Ted will be the Sidmouth Amateur Dramatic Society’s next production.

The Ladykillers, originally a film screenplay by William Rose, is set in the crooked, tumbledown house of elderly widow Mrs Wilberforce. A criminal gang planning a daring robbery pose as musicians and rent a room in the house, as cover for their crime.

The robbery takes place amid chaos and confusion, and Mrs Wilberforce threatens to report the gang to the police – so they draw lots to decide which of them should be the Ladykiller.

Rehearsals, directed by Joan Heard, are going well and the play will run from Tuesday 2 October to Saturday 6 October, with a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30pm. Tickets, priced £12 for adults and £6 for under 16s, are available now at The Manor Pavilion Theatre Box Office, open Monday to Saturday 10.00am to 2.00pm or call 01395 514413.
