THE weird and wonderful world of books came to life at schools last week as children came to lessons dressed as characters from their favourite stories to enjoy World Book Day.
THE weird and wonderful world of books came to life at schools last week as children came to lessons dressed as characters from their favourite stories to enjoy World Book Day. Pupils at All Saints Infants and St Nicholas Junior schools dressed as book characters for the day, with St Nick's costume wearers raising £218 for Book Aid International.Some teachers joined in the fun, with student teacher Nick Owen dressing as a caterpillar at the junior school, mingling with Harry Potters, Alice in Wonderland and many more.Disney characters galore joined Snow White and the Mad Hatter at All Saints Infants, where children listened to Rumpelstiltskin, the Red Riding Hood story, The Enormous Turnip and the true story of Three Little Pigs. Events were organised by teacher Lisa Rosen.At Sidbury Primary School, pupils arrived in fancy dress to enjoy World Book Day, a worldwide celebration of books and reading marked in over 100 countries around the globe.Modern characters like Harry Potter mixed with Red Riding Hood and Snow White at the school.
