School children have been creating gardens and taking night walks to learn about the winged wonders.
Children of Branscombe Primary School have been awarded a bronze award from the Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project to acknowledge the work the school has done.
To achieve the bronze award, the school had to do 10 bat-related activities such as an evening bat walk with the National Trust and creating a bat-friendly garden with flowers that encourage the right insects for bats to eat.
Branscombe has been working with the Devon Greater Horseshoe Bat Project as part of the Bat Buddy School Award Scheme.
The children are now working towards the silver award.
They are planning their next activities, such as encouraging other schools to become involved in the scheme, refreshing the school bug hotel and planning wild flower meadow to encourage more insects.
