THE chairman of Branscombe Parish Council has announced he will be standing down from his post next year.
John Bass told residents at the annual parish meeting of his decision along with former chairman, councillor Frank Adlam, who will also be leaving the council next May following the local elections.
Mr Bass, who was re-elected chairman for the forthcoming year, said to the council: "I'm perfectly willing to do it for another year but you should seriously think about the situation next May."
Mr Adlam added: "Even though we will be finished next May, I will always be available for the new chairman."
Branscombe Parish Council re-elected councillor Mark White as vice chairman.
He said he would consider taking over the role of chairman next year.
