A REPRESENTATIVE from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People along with his hearing dog, Donna, attended a Branscombe WI meeting last week.
Wayne Hurren and Donna gave a very entertaining and informative presentation to 20 WI members and nine visitors on the difference that hearing dogs make to the lives of deaf people.
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a charity that trains young dogs and puppies to alert deaf people to everyday sounds, such as doorbells, phones, and fire alarms, providing greater confidence, security and independence.
Sandi Clark, Branscombe WI president, said: "A collection was taken and this is certainly a charity for which Branscombe WI will be organising a fund raising event."
New members are always welcome. For more information ring Sandi on (01297) 680106.
* The Great All-Day Pie Feast, organised by Branscombe WI will be held on Sunday, August 4 from 10.30am-4.30pm in the village hall. The bar will be open from noon-2.30pm.
