MORE than 100 people attended a Songs of Praise service led by the Bishop of Crediton on Branscombe beach on Sunday afternoon.

The Right Reverend Bob Evans led the open-air service as the culmination of a five-day visit to the region. He had conducted a confirmation service in Beer before walking over the cliffs to Branscombe.

The Bishop was joined by the the Archdeacon of Exeter, the Rural Dean of Honiton and many other clergy and lay readers from the area.

Choppy sea conditions halted the Bishop's plans to leave the village by sea, however, he did bless a Branscombe fishing boat before enjoying tea in the Sea Shanty.
