Archant

Is the quiet village of Tipton St John soon to be disturbed by the sound of jet aircraft taking off and landing?

Don’t panic, it is just an advertisement for TIPPS’ latest show, Flight of Fancy, a trip round the world in words, song and dance, taking off at 7.30pm from the community hall on February 14 to 17.

There are still a few tickets left for unreserved seats on this licensed flight, which can be obtained from the Tipton Village Store or by phoning 01404 812040.

It is a fortnight until curtains go up for the Branscombe Players for its pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk.

The group have been hard at work rehearsing its take on the classic show, which has been written and directed by Emily Miller.

When Jack and his mother are forced to sell their cow that produces wine, he brings home some beans which transform into a beanstalk. He will have to face a giant if he wants to find the king’s daughter and musical instrument.

Jack and the Beanstalk will take place on Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24, in Branscombe Village Hall. Doors open at 6.45pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets cost £6.50 for adults and £3 for children and are on sale now by phoning Nic and Kay Smith on 01297 680593.
