MORE than £300 was raised at a double fundraiser event in Branscombe last week.

The first part of the charity day, a coffee morning, was hosted by the Branscombe branch of the Royal British Legion with all proceeds going towards the Poppy Appeal.

This was followed by a lunch including cottage pie with veg and dessert was strawberry flan with cream. All of the money raised from the lunch went to Help for Heroes.

The hall was decorated with newspaper clippings of articles about war and there was a picture of the Branscombe men who fought in the Second World War.

Steve Keane, organiser of the coffee morning, said: "It was very successful. We had a lot of people come through on the morning and there was also a lot of support for the lunch."

The lunch was organised by Branscombe villagers Marie Dowell and Rosemary Pavey.

Marie said: "We wanted to do something to show our appreciation for the soldiers."

Steve thanked Marie and Rosemary on behalf of Help for Heroes.
