A sex offender who is alleged to have failed to notify police when he moved house in Branscombe will be tried by magistrates after denying the offence.

Robert Edward Ivey, 30, of Trafalgar Terrace, pleaded not guilty to the breach of the Sexual Offences Act, under which he should have informed officers within three days.

Appearing in court in Exeter on Wednesday, magistrates accepted jurisdiction for the offence, which could have been sent to crown court, and Ivey will appear before them on July 11.

His bail was extended to that date.
