Police are appealing for witnesses after burglars stole a cash box from a shop in Sidmouth town centre.
Mountain Warehouse was targeted between 4pm on Sunday (March 6) and 8.40am on Monday (March 7).
PC Simon Blyth, the neighbourhood beat manager for Sidmouth Town, said thieves forced the back door to the premises and would have accessed the rear of the shop via an alleyway from Fore Street.
He said the culprits would probably have had to climb over the door to the alley – but the contents of the cash box were not worth the risk.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area is asked to contact the police on the non-emergency number, 101, quoting crime reference CR/014619/19.
