Emergency services were called to Sidmouth this morning (Wednesday) after two vehicles collided near the entrance to Waitrose.
Onlookers who saw the aftermath of the accident said it looked as though the cars, a blue Ford Focus and a silver Vauxhall Meriva, had spun around on the wet road after the incident at around 9.30am.
They came to a halt on the verge near the Stowford Community Centre.
Two ambulances tended to the passengers, police controlled traffic and a fire engine attended the scene after reports of smoke from the cars.
