CATTLE trapped in a burning barn in Ottery have been rescued by firefighters.
Crews have been working through the night to control the blaze which took hold of the outbuilding at Knightstone Farm yesterday at around 8.10pm.
Around three tonnes of ammonium nitrate fertiliser caught alight as did the barn's asbestos roof and overhead power cables.
It is not yet known if the cattle were injured in the fire.
A spokesperson for the fire service said earlier today: "Two crews from Topsham and Sidmouth are now in attendance at the scene continuing to make steady progress and letting the fire burn under control."
