Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir will be hoping to hit all the right notes to raise money for the Sid Valley Admiral Nurse campaign.
The 60-strong choir will perform in All Saints Church, Sidmouth, next month to help with ongoing efforts to fund a dementia specialist for the valley.
The group performs a wide variety of music ranging from show songs, Welsh hymns and opera to help raise money for good causes.
This year alone, the choir have entertained crowds to support Ottery Hospiscare and raised in excess of £5,000, accompanied by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Band, Exmouth RNLI, and Crediton Transport Association.
The choir return to Sidmouth on Saturday, October 6, and will be joined by soprano Héloïse West as a guest soloist. Héloïse will be directed on the night by Laurence Blyth.
The Sid Valley was the first in Devon to appoint an Admiral Nurse after 13 months of community fundraising in a campaign led by the Sid Valley Memory Café to secure the £100,000 needed for two years worth of support.
Heidi Crook was appointed in March 2017 and earlier this year won Community Nurse of the Year in Devon.
Rachel Johnstone, business development officer for Dementia UK, said: “Heidi continues to play a pivotal role in supporting families and carers for people who have been diagnosed with dementia in the Sid Valley community.
“Particularly during times when things get challenging or difficult, Heidi works alongside families offering one-to-one support through specialist nursing assessment, interventions, expert guidance and emotional support.”
She added that the Admiral Nurse service was expanding in the East Devon area with appointments taking place for a nurse in Honiton and Topsham, Woodbury, Exmouth and Budleigh.
Rachel added: “The fact that expanding the specialist dementia support to families provided by an Admiral Nurse is following on from the success of Heidi’s role in Sid Valley and the difference she has made. Sid Valley has been a trailblazer for other services.”
Tickets are available from Paragon Books and cost £10 per person. The concert will begin at 7.30pm.
