ON Sunday, June 14, Powderham Castle will be a hotspot for nature enthusiasts. Visitors will be able to see some unusual bugs up close and handle them if they dare! The RSPB will be running some fascinating bird trails for everyone to join in too.

The Bug Shed in the Secret Garden will literally be crawling with activity attracting bug fanatics with a range of fascinating insects including stick insects, giant African snails and even a Madagascan hissing cockroach. Children will be able to go on a 'bug hunt' themselves to see what interesting species they can find in the vicinity of the Secret Garden.

Simon Fishwick, General Manager said: "It's going to be a great day and a wonderful opportunity for visitors to appreciate the wonderful bird life we have on the estate, get really close to some amazing mini-beasts and learn some fascinating facts. I'm sure we will see many grown-ups facing up to their phobias too!"

There will be an opportunity for visitors to join the Bug Club and the RSPB if they wish on the day.
