Organisers of Sidbury Fair Week are looking forward to another packed programme to bring the community together.

The annual event will begin on Saturday, September 10, with the horticultural show in the Village Inn.

On Wednesday, September 14, Sidbury Fair Day will spring into action from 10am with local produce, a craft fair and street stalls.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy an exhibition of Sidbury between the wars and the history of Sidbury Fair in the church.

In the afternoon, there will be a livestock and poultry sale at 2pm, followed by the Jordan Cross memorial duck race at 3.30pm.

Sue Gooding, of the fair committee, said: “It’s always an event that the community looks forward to every year and we always look forward to welcoming new people.

“But it is always great that a lot of people that have a connection with the village do come back for Sidbury Fair Day.”

People can sign up for the 18th fun run and walk, which will start at 11.30am on Sunday, September 11. Entry forms can be obtained from the Red Lion Inn, Drews Butchers or The Rising Sun.

Children are also expected to turn out in force once again for the throwing of the hot pennies in Church Street at noon on Tuesday, September 13.

Budding photographers are asked to capture the theme of ‘country crafts’ for this year’s display and exhibition. More than 80 entries were submitted in 2015 and organisers are hoping to match or exceed the number.

A quiz evening at the Red Lion is also planned, with harvest thanksgiving service and ending with equestrian pleasure ride on Sunday, September 18.

King Edward I granted Sidbury a charter for a fair in 1291. It was to be held for three days in September to cover the Feast of the Virgin Mary.
