A POLICE crackdown on burglaries in Sidmouth has seen a drop in the number of offences but no culprits caught, according to the constabulary.

Residents told the force they were concerned about crimes in the area – and asked for measures to be taken to prevent further incidents.

A police spokesman said: “The number of offences committed is very low, however, officers have worked hard to reduce them.

“Officers have carried out a number of operations including plain clothes patrols, vehicle stop checks and crime prevention meetings.

A number of people have been stopped and checked.
