SMALL business owners in Sidmouth are being warned by police of a long-term scam, now targeting Devon companies.

European City Guides are a Spanish based company who send out pro-formas with the company details already completed.

The form states that filling in the form would give the recipient 'the opportunity to be published in an inter-professional Guide on CD-Rom and Internet'. The cost for this is €997.00.

By filling in the form, it is deemed a legal contract has been entered and legal action is threatened if payment is not received.

Police are warning people to throw the forms away and not to respond to the company.
