Sid Valley residents are invited to get stuck in at Sidford Wildlife Project’s garden party with a difference.

A ‘garden force’ day will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 10am to 5pm, giving everyone an opportunity to go along and help finish the first phase of the community wildlife project at Byes End.

People will be encouraged to get their hands dirty and get involved with sowing wild flowers, planting, digging, building a big bug hotel and various wood craft activities.

There will also be a barbecue lunch available and visitors are welcome to drop in for as long as they want throughout the day.

Children from Sidbury and Sidmouth primary schools will attend their own ‘garden force’ day on Friday, March 13, where they will see their original designs for the natural play area become a reality.

Project manager Helen Harms said: “I would like to say a big thank-you to everyone for their support so far, and we are really looking forward to the day.”

She also thanked the many businesses that have supported the community initiative.

The Byes Pre School will be holding a fundraising jumble sale for the project at Sidford Social Hall on Saturday, February 21, from 10am to noon.

Anyone keen to get involved can contact Helen Harms on 07866 621643.
