The Renault Clio is attached to a trailer advertising its former owner David Knight’s business, Elite Vehicle Solutions – who said he has ‘no idea’ why it still has his details on.

The vehicle has now been slapped with an enforcement notice by East Devon District Council (EDDC).

Mr Knight said: “It’s not good for our company but if I touch it I’ll be breaking the law, as it’s taxed and insured.

“I would have thought the council could demand it be removed, I know when I owned it [the advertising trailer] I was always being told to move it, hence why we sold it.”

Windows on the vehicle have been smashed and the inside has been ransacked.

It is attached by a tow bar to the trailer advertising Elite Vehicle Solutions.

An EDDC spokeswoman said: “East Devon was only recently made aware that the car had been vandalised and that it has actually now been abandoned – previously it appeared to be in use, having been moved. We have now arranged for it to be removed.”
