Car in Sidbury ‘totally destroyed’ after fire

A fire crew was called out to Sidbury on Sunday (July 30) night after reports of a car on fire.
A vehicle was ‘totally destroyed’ after a car fire in Sidbury on Sunday (July 30).
A fire appliance from Honiton attended the incident in East Hill Strips at around 10pm after a call from South Western Ambulance Service saying they had reports of a car on fire and it was unclear if there was someone in the vehicle.
Ambulance staff arrived first on the scene and confirmed there were no people in the car or in attendance.
The fire service extinguished the fire which had been started deliberately.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On our arrival we confirmed the car was well alight and had been set on fire deliberately.
“Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish it, before leaving duty of care with the Police. The vehicle was totally destroyed.”
