A show of classic British cars netted £1,000 for Sidmouth Lifeboat - and the petrolheads were eager to learn about its new tractor.

The Rover P4 Drivers’ Guild Devon backed the charity for the third year with its event at Sidford’s Blue Ball Inn in July.

Lifeboat chairman of trustees John Fowler received the cheque from Ian Hartnell, the guild’s regional representative, who took along his 51-year-old Rover P4 110.

To ensure the lifeboat can remain on call 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year, the money raised will be spent on sending three of the more experienced crew on a week-long residential search and rescue command course run by the RNLI.

The lifeboat is always on the lookout for new members to join its dedicated and committed crew.
