CARERS from Weston and the surrounding areas are being encouraged to attend free local group sessions.

The Caring with Confidence meetings will take place in the town with the first introductory session at the Crossroads Carers Centre, Graham Road, on Monday between 10.15am and 1.15pm.

They are aimed at carers aged 18 and over and will help build on their own strengths, share experiences and gain useful information, ideas and tips about looking after someone to help them decide how to make positive changes to their caring role.

The Department of Health will be funding help with travel and alternative care costs for people who wish to attend.

There are seven different three-hour sessions available which cover a variety of topics and issues.

Sally Cavanagh, organiser, said: “If you are looking after a friend or relative, Caring with Confidence can help you to make a positive difference to your life and that of the person you look after.

“These sessions are led by experienced facilitators, many of whom are themselves carers or have experience of working with carers.”
