Green fingered residents and businesses were toasted for their floral and community contribution at Sidmouth in Bloom’s annual awards.
The group met to celebrate the success of the town last Thursday and announce the winners of its summer floral competition.
South West in Bloom judge Christine Fraser attended the event at Knowle to present the town with the Sargent Cup and In Your Neigbourhood certificates.
Lynette Talbot, chairman of Sidmouth in Bloom, said: “It’s to celebrate the whole towns floral and community contributions.”
She added there was a lot of interest in the competition’s new class gardening with a disability and an increase in children participating.
A number of environmental & community awards were handed out to people for opening gardens or continuous input for SIB throughout the year.
Sidmouth in Bloom have also announced that in February 2018 it will launch a floral competition for spring gardens that may not enter the summer contest.
Lynette said judges will focus on four categories including houses with small, medium, or large gardens, and courtyard gardens.
The group will also be encouraging businesses to go for gold in next year’s South West in Bloom competition as part of a business awards.
