HERITAGE: The Fine Foundation in Beer is inviting people to help them celebrate 10 years of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site with two events next month. On Tuesday, December 13, there will be a guided walk around the village, looking at a cocktail of local houses built using materials from the Jurassic Coast, plus a gentle stirring of wildlife. It will last around an hour and a half and may end up at the pub, and to join in meet outside the centre on the beach at 11 am. There will also be an exhibition of images taken by people from the village giving a local perspective of the Jurassic Coast in the centre from 10am to 4.30pm.

CHRISTMAS FAIR: Branscombe’s ‘Christmas Fair’ will take place in the village hall on Saturday December 3 from 2pm to 4pm. There are still stalls available for the community fair, contact Janet Sindle on 01395 516822.

CONCERT: There are a few tickets left for ‘The Oldies Are the Best’ at Beer Mariners Hall tonight. Presented by Emily Miller Music it is putting on an evening of theatre, cabaret, singing, dancing and musical entertainment. Tickets cost �12.50 and the evening is raising funds for BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal and Macmillan Cancer Support. Tickets are available from the village post office .

CANCELLED: The latest Branscombe Parish Council meeting was cancelled due to a lack of business. The clerk says unless any urgent matters arise the next scheduled meeting is for Thursday, December 8.

CHANGE OF DATE: The service in Branscombe to mark Advent Sunday has been moved to 4pm instead of 6pm. There will still be the usual extensive use of candles and candle light and will be led by the vicar and by Nigel Freathy with the choir singing Advent music.

CHRISTMAS: Beer WI are inviting residents over 60 to come to a ‘Senior Citizen’s Christmas Lunch’ on December 8 at 1pm in the Mariners Hall. Booking can be taken at the Post Office in the village but must be made before November 24. Contact 01397 22774 for enquiries.

SHOPPING: The late night shopping event in Beer will take place on Friday, December, 9, from 6pm until 9pm. There are craft stalls, a raffle, framed prints, wood gifts and many more items for sale. Father Christmas will turn on the lights at 6.30 pm followed by carols round the trees. Most shops open for mulled wine and mince pies. To book a stall please contact Carole on 07710 809 765.
