SID Vale Rotary Club enjoyed a talk given by a member of a charity close to the group's heart earlier this week.

David Guy, a representative of ShelterBox, spoke to the club at their meeting at the Blue Ball on Monday evening about the importance of the charity and how their fund-raising makes a difference.

A massive 55% of its income comes from money raised by Rotary Clubs world-wide.

John Rush, a Rotary Club member, said: "David and a team of volunteers from Shelterbox tour the area and provide information and updates on the work of the charity.

"For instance, at the meeting on Monday we heard information on the 'School Box' which provides temporary schooling facilities in areas where no other accommodation is available.

"This information is important not only for Rotary Clubs but any other organization which may be raising funds."

David explained the West Country Rotary charity, is currently stretched to its limits as four teams work around the clock to provide the life-saving equipment to those who need it most.

The charity is now urgently seeking funds to enable it to provide aid for those affected. To find out more information about ShelterBox visit www.shelterbox.org.

Sid Vale and Sidmouth Rotary clubs will be in the Market Place on Wednesday fundraising for the 'Tree of Light' collection in support of local charities.
