A CHILDREN'S centre for Ottery edged closer to becoming a reality last week after millions of pounds were pledged to improve local services.

Devon County Council (DCC) has set aside £4.5 million in a bid to provide 43 centres- service hubs where children under five years old and their families can receive seamless, integrated services and information- across Devon.

A DCC spokesman said any potential Ottery location has not been considered yet as plans are "very much at an early stage" and "nothing is set in concrete".
