Businesses across Sidmouth have put their hand in their pocket to donate to local charities as part of the ice bucket challenge.

Sidmouth Design, Dukes, the Herald and Waitrose all braved the ice cold water after being nominated by Sidmouth Garden Centre.

They have now nominated another three businesses each. Sidmouth Design owner Edward Willis Fleming completed the challenge on Friday August 29, nominating Tim Ford, Simon Larter and Martin Crockett.

Mr Sheppard nominated Steven Kendall-Torry, Sidmouth RNLI and Ali Wallace.

He said afterwards: “If we can lead by example and people follow and we can help people, then that is perfect.”

The Herald nominated, Councillor Paul Diviani, Councillor Roger Giles and Councillor Stuart Hughes and each reporter will be donating £10 each to East Devon Hospicare.

Mark Seward of Dukes chose Richard Hedger, Colin Pine and Matt Raistrick.
