FIRE safety chiefs have backed a campaign urging residents in Sidmouth and Ottery to make a potentially life-saving move when changing their clocks on Sunday – by also testing their smoke alarms.
Householders are more than four times more likely to die in a blaze if their smoke alarm is not working. The warning was issued by Mike Burroughs, fire inspection officer of Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue Service.
