Barbershop group return to Sidmouth to perform for Sidmouth Hospital Comforts Fund fundraiser

THE popular Close Shaves barbershop group (pictured) will return to Sidmouth next month to perform a concert of close harmony music at All Saints Church.

The spring concert will be the major fund-raising event of 2012 for Sidmouth Hospital Comforts Fund, whose president is Sheelagh Michelmore.

The group includes her son, Sidmouth-born Chris, pictured far right, and their concert will start at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 5.

All members of the Bach Choir, London, the group formed The Shaves in 1992, during a choir tour of Florida.

Although they now live and work in very diverse parts of the country, Close Shaves is coming together for what has become a bi-annual visit to Sidmouth for a weekend together with their families.

Chris said: “The concert will include a variety of music, including arrangements of Gershwin, Cole Porter and the Beatles, mixed with traditional barbershop and folk songs.”

Tickets are 10, to include a glass of wine, and are available from Paragon Books, High Street, Sidmouth.
