RESIDENTS in Woolbrook area of Sidmouth should be cautious when donating items of clothing to supposed Third World charity collectors, Sidmouth Police warned this week.
The warning to check out how the Eastern European collectors will use the money raised by selling donated items, was issued after commercial company, Helpmates Ltd., delivered leaflets to homes in Ashley Crescent, Woolbrook Meadow and Woolbrook Rise yesterday (Thursday).
"Are you sure they are a charity?" asked a police spokesman, who suggested people check on the Internet before making donations.
