SCHOOLS in Ottery and surrounding areas are in with a chance of receiving free solar panels worth £20,000 thanks to the second phase of a green energy scheme.
The Co-operative, which has already spent £1 million installing solar panels at 100 schools across the UK, has earmarked a further million pounds for its Green Energy for Schools scheme.
Each solar system generates more than 3,400 kWh of electricity each year- enough to power a computer for 33,000 hours- saving around two tonnes of carbon dioxide.
Co-operative members in Ottery can nominate schools to receive free solar panels from now until November 5. For details, visit www.cooperative.coop/greenenergyforschools.
