A ‘coffee concert’ provided audiences with beautiful music, great refreshments and a performance to remember.

The event, organised by the Friends of Sidmouth Town Band, took place last Wednesday at the Sidholme Music Room.

Students from St John’s International School provided entertainment, which included two delightful and accomplished piano solos, a beautifully intonated flute solo and a very professional and gifted performance on the guzheng, a traditional Chinese stringed instrument.

Clive Salmon, the school’s director of music, sensitively accompanied the children as they sang a number of songs from their repertoire ranging from Amazing Grace to Hey Jude.

John Brindley and Dorothy Worthington then completed the morning’s entertainment with a number of delightful songs.

The next coffee concert will be held on November 23 and will feature a performance from Colyton Grammar School. Coffee is served from 10.30am and the performance commences at 11am. Admission is free.
