ROTARY FAIR: Sid Valley Rotary Club is staging its summer fair in Blackmore Gardens on Sunday, July 25. Chamber of Commerce treasurer Graham Sindle invites local businesses to sponsor this event with donations of �15, �25 or �40. This year’s primary charity is to be Devon Young Carers. QUALITY WATER: Tap water quality in the South West is at an all-time high. Results published by the Drinking Water Inspectorate shows South West Water has a compliance rate of 99.98 per cent to its quality standards, above the national average of 99.95 per cent. This means the firm has the equal best quality tap water of Britain’s ‘Big 10’ water and sewerage companies. To celebrate these results, it will be giving away thousands of refillable water bottles from its customer caravan around the region, including at Branscombe Air Day on Sunday, July 25, until the end of August.

LIBRARY FUN: Sidmouth Library will be taking part in an intergalactic reading adventure this month. A Mad Science workshop will be staged at the library in Blackmore Drive from 10.30am-11.30am on Tuesday, July 27 as part of the national Space Hop, the Summer Reading Challenge which encourages children to read at least six books during the summer break. Children aged between four and 12 can follow the crew of the starship Ex Libris as they try to set up the first library on the moon. They can pick up a membership card and a poster on which they can log their reading progress from the library. As well as prizes including collectable stickers and glow in the dark wristbands, there will be certificates and medals for the space-cadets who complete the challenge and touch down on the lunar landing.

PLANT SALE: Sidbury Primary School gardening club will be hosting a plant sale at the school in Church Lane on Wednesday, July 14, at 3.15pm.
