VISIBLE damage to Sidmouth road bridge at Salcombe Road, has been inspected by a principal engineer from County Hall.
The damage was reported to the bridge team at Devon County Council by the town's County Councillor Stuart Hughes.
Now a re-point will be carried out as there has been no significant movement of stones.
However one stone may need replacing altogether which will need listed building consent.
Mr Hughes said: "I welcome the reported observations by the bridge engineer and would also like to thank the member of the public who reported the damage to me.
"By doing so this has resulted in less work being required which in turn will cost less.
"This bridge plays such an important role and is a major asset to the Sidmouth economy.
