A concert to launch a book of short stories – and fulfil its author’s dying wish – is being staged at the Sidholme Hotel at 7pm tonight (Friday).

Mum-of-one Sophie Handley was finally set to see her tales in print when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and told she had just weeks to live.

Her mum, Judith Beardmore, is having the stories published as Moving On.

The launch event will feature music from Sidmouth Town Band and members of the Exeter Symphony Orchestra.

Proceeds will go to Exeter cancer charity FORCE, and there will be collections for Hospiscare and Macmillan.

Tickets (£5 including a wine and cheese buffet) will be available on the door.

Moving On will be available at Paragon Books.
