Concert raises the roof

A CONCERT by Budleigh Salterton Male Voice choir raised the roof for Beer Congregational Church.

The choir performed at the St Michael’s Church in Beer on Saturday, August 21, in aid of the congregational church’s Raise the Roof fund. Ticket sales and roof slates sold for £5 each as part of the appeal on the night made £550.

The audience was treated to a variety of songs by the 55-strong choir, with special guest soprano Dawn Felton.

All members give their time for free, so that all proceeds from the ticket sales go directly to the chosen charity.

The roof work is expected to begin in September, and estimated to cost £50,000. The church committee has £20,000 saved and has already raised close to half of the outstanding £30,000 through fundraising events and the sale of slates.
