PROPOSALS for a mix of private and affordable new homes on land to the south of Otter Close, Tipton St John, were launched at a community consultation event last Thursday

PROPOSALS for a mix of private and affordable new homes on land to the south of Otter Close, Tipton St John, were launched at a community consultation event last Thursday, December 11.

The event was organised by award-winning Tiverton-based house builder, Devonshire Homes. Attended by over 90 people, the event displayed the company's early ideas on the proposals and sought community feedback on issues such as housing mix, design and layout.

Steve Russell, Devonshire Homes' land and planning director said:"We were pleased that so many people took the time to attend our event and would like to thank all those who viewed and discussed the plans for the site with us. We consider that the event proved most worthwhile and will be reviewing the feedback received over the coming weeks, which will help to inform our thinking about the proposals.

"With a housing need in the district, particularly in its more rural areas, coupled with the current climate in which many schemes are being placed on hold or failing to come forward, these plans present a great opportunity.

"We place great emphasis on working with the local communities in which we operate and look forward to holding further discussions with the local community and its representatives over our proposals."

It is understood that the company will be developing its plans further over the coming weeks and months, once it has reviewed the community's feedback. Following this, a further consultation event is likely to take place early next year.
