A PUBLIC consultation on the region’s waste strategy for the next 20 years gets underway today (Thursday, April 28).
Devon County Council’s (DCC) waste core strategy issues and options consultation report has been drawn up to help identify the most-appropriate areas for waste management activities and to provide policies for considering waste planning applications to 2031.
The strategy will consider almost all types of waste including commercial and industrial, construction, demolition and excavation and hazardous, as well as the municipal waste collected from Devon households.
The public consultation runs until July 21.
Councillor Will Mumford, DCC cabinet member for economic regeneration and strategic planning, said: “Views of the public, businesses and other organisations will be vital to help the county council in developing the direction of the strategy. Further consultations will be held over the coming two years as it continues to develop in more detail.”
The document is available in Sidmouth and Ottery libraries and at the district council offices at Knowle.
