A group of cows had to be rescued from an island surrounded by water in Ottery earlier today (Tuesday).
Fire crews were called to Cadhay Bridge at about 8.40am and found three cows stranded on an island in the river.
One engine from Ottery St Mary attended along with a Water Rescue unit from Exmouth.
They assisted the farmer with the removal of the cattle which were then taken to his farm.
The animals were not distressed.
