A CAR which overturned on its way to Sidmouth was stolen, say police, who are now searching for the driver who fled from the wreckage.

The red Citroen Xsara flipped over on the A375, one mile from Honiton at around 9am on Tuesday (September 9). Local units, a dog handler and police helicopter attended the scene but the driver was nowhere to be found.

The search was hampered by poor weather conditions which forced the helicopter to land.

The driver is described as a white male of slight build wearing a hooded jacket and baggy jeans.

Contact police on 08452 777444, crime reference: 165 09/09/08, with information.
