Mr Nice Guy of pop delivers superb live performance at adventure park’s first flirt with the concert world.

It was a family affair - right down to what Peter Andre fans could write about him on placards.

The Mr Nice Guy of pop rocked Crealy on Saturday night, but told adoring women in the audience not to display a saucy message.

From offering words of advice on safety to thanking fans for supporting him through personal difficulties, the Aussie singer’s rapport with his audience was at its best; demonstrating the real connection he has developed with his followers.

The hard-working pop idol danced and sang through an hour-long set, going into extra time to deliver the one song everyone in the crowd wanted to hear - Mysterious Girl.

Peter Andre’s vocals were almost faultless throughout his performance, delighting fans who had waited patiently while four supporting acts provided entertainment.

Around 6,000 people attended Crealy Rocks, the adventure park’s first major concert.

Gates opened at 3pm and no fewer than 30 double decker buses transported concert-goers from West Point, where parking was provided. Together with a good security and marshalling team, the system worked so well that, at the end of the night, the arena was clear of people in under 40 minutes.

The entertainment started at around 6pm with an eye-catching routine from a young group of Exmouth-based dancers.

Next up were local bands Electric Skies and N.U.M.B., followed by girl band Stooshe and talented X-Factor boy band The Reason 4.

But there was no doubting who the crowds had flocked to see - Peter Andre, who topped the bill.

For a first endeavour, Crealy Rocks was a big success - even if crowd numbers were up to 4,000 short of capacity.

A plentiful supply of portable toilets meant no queuing for the loo, but it was a different story when it came to food.

All foodstuffs not returned to vehicles were confiscated from concert-goers before they entered the arena, but, once inside, there were just three catering outlets and the queues were horrendous for most of the night. This will have to be rectified at future events.

Some of the abandoned food was non-perishable and suitable for the Exeter Food Bank.

A spokeswoman for Crealy said: “All guests attending Crealy Rocks were informed prior to the event that no food or drink was to be brought into the concert field.

“Any guests who did bring food or drink with them were given the opportunity to return it to their vehicles before boarding the shuttle buses. Any food or drink that was left by concert goers has been disposed of for health and safety reasons.”

The stage, two giant screens and a host of hi-tech effects were all spot on. Everybody got a good view of the action and there was a real family atmosphere throughout the night.
