Crime has fallen to even lower levels in Beer and Branscombe after a very quiet March for police.

There were no crimes at all reported in Branscombe, with just one incident in neighbouring Beer, contributing to the fewest total crimes in the Seaton Rural patch for March in years.

The only crime was a breach of a sexual offences prevention order.

Neighbourhood beat manager PC Steve Speariett confirmed: “A 43-year-old local male was arrested for breaching a sexual prevention order, he is currently on remand awaiting trial.”

This compares to three crimes in Beer in February and four crimes for March 2011.

For Branscombe, March was down from a single crime in February, and is the same as

March 2011, which also saw no incidents.

Elsewhere there were three crimes in Colyton, which was still down both on the previous month and March 2011.

And the villages of Axmouth, Farway, Northleigh, Southleigh, Rousdon and Combpyne stayed crime free again in March.

Compared to March last year, crime in the Seaton Rural area has decreased from 12 in 2011, to just four this year, down by two-thirds.

Since 2004 the monthly average for crimes committed in March has been 15, meaning 2012 has seen a massive drop.

Neighbourhood beat manager PC Steve Speariett said: “March’s total of four reported crimes is the lowest total for March since at least 2004, and it has seen the eighth consecutive month of below average crime totals.”

He said the Neighbourhood Team will be visiting farms and caravan sites in the following months to review security and offer crime prevention.

PC Speariett added: “This is part of the long term strategy to reduce crime further than the historic lows we are seeing at present.”

The crime reference number for the above offence is KN/12/102, if you have any information on get in touch with Seaton Police Station on 101, or e-mail seaton@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk.
