Police say the vehicle was taken late on Monday night from the terminus next to the railway station, and was discovered around 8.10am near the church the following morning.
The bus was blocking the road but quickly moved out of harm’s way.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anybody with information about the theft to contact them on 101, quoting crime reference KE/12/2839.
