CRIME TALLY: Crime in Ottery during November dropped when compared to the same period last year.

There were 31 reported incidents last month compared to 34 in 2011.

The tally included a burglary and nine assaults – four of which were on Tar Barrels night, said PCSO Maria Clapp.

There were three separate thefts from Otter Nurseries in which the culprits were caught.

On one occasion a Christmas tree was pinched.

A total of 158 crimes have been reported so far this year – as opposed to 185 in the previous 12 months.

BUS THEFT: A double-decker bus made an unscheduled stop in Tipton after it was stolen from Exmouth station and then abandoned in the village.

Police say the vehicle was taken late on Monday night from the terminus next to the railway station, and was discovered around 8.10am near the church the following morning.

The bus was blocking the road but quickly moved out of harm’s way.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anybody with information about the theft to contact them on 101, quoting crime reference KE/12/2839.
