Daisy selected to be Ottery hill climb’s first mascot
PUBLISHED: 12:00 31 July 2017
Organisers of Ottery’s inaugural hill climb have announced its first mascot for the event - a Jack Russell named Daisy.
The pooch was chosen after joining her owner Maureen Gori for a cycling trip in France.
Daisy enjoyed a basket seat as Maureen climbed the 21 hairpin bends of the French Alps, catching the attention of passers-by.
The route is used in the Tour of France.
Visitors to Ottery’s event will be able to have their picture taken with Daisy by paying a donation, which will be donated to charity.
The King and Queen of the Mountain event will take place up Chineway Hill on October 15.
The time trial has been organised following the success of the Tour of Britain, where the hill was designated as a King of the Mountain stage.
A family event will be held in the Land of Canaan following the race.
The event has received more sponsorship from Devon Cycling Holidays and Soanes Cycles from Colyton.
